XV. the rolling stones: wild hores (live)

1971 war musikalisch ein ganz besonderes jahr. die achtteilige minisierie 1971: das jahr, in dem musik alles veränderte erkundet die kulturellen und politischen umbrüche jenes jahrs und wie diese von musiker:innen und deren beröffentlichungen aufgegriffen, verdaut und mit beeinflusst wurden. der für heute ausgewählte song ist auch in diesem jahr erschienen. neben einer liste mit alben, die mit mir zu tun haben, gibts als landkarte für meine oppulente musiksammlung auch eine liste mit songs, die mit mir zu tun haben. etwa vier von diesen vielen sind von the rolling stones. «wild horses» und «dead flowers» sind auf sticky fingers zu finden, «shine a light» und «happy» auf exile on main st. drei von diesen vier haben sich mir 1995 offenbart auf dieser scheibe. das war ich vierzehn. heute bin ich 42. und als der impuls mich fand, den diesjährigen adventlichen musikalender nur mit versionen von songs zu kuratieren, die am selben tag in einem anderen dezember live aufgenommen, hatte ich nur eine kleine ahnung davon, was an die oberfläche kommt. dass es dieses jahr so persönlich würde. dass ich euch so viele mir wichtige songs zeigen werde, die als dna in mein musik hören und machen eingewoben haben – wahrlich ein spaziergang auf der allee erinnerungen. einhören in den soundtrack meines bisherigen lebens. die heutigen wildpferde wurden geboren als als einfaches schlaflied für keith richards sohn. seit vielen jahren spiel ich den song immer wiede guet & gärn am feuer. alleine oder mit oder für leute. ich mag die poetische mystik und die sehnsüchtig-zuversichtliche traurigkeit in musik und text. die stones sind selten so tief. wir hören eine aufnahme aus dem prudential center in newark vom 15. dezember 2012.

1971 was a very special year musically. the eight-part miniseries 1971: the year music changed everything explores the cultural and political upheavals of that year and how they were taken up, digested and influenced by musicians and their releases. the song chosen for today was also released that year. as well as a list of albums that have to do with me, there is also a list of songs that have to do with me as a map for my oppulent music collection. about four of these many are by the rolling stones. «wild horses» und «dead flowers» can be found on sticky fingers, «shine a light» und «happy» on exile on main st. three of these four were revealed to me on this record in 1995. that was when i was fourteen. today i'm 42. and when the impulse struck me to curate this year's advent music calendar with only versions of songs recorded live on the same day in another december, i had only a small inkling of what would surface. that it would be so personal this year. that i would show you so many songs important to me that have woven into my music listening and making as dna - truly a walk down memory lane. listening into the soundtrack of my life so far. today's wild horses were born as a simple lullaby for keith richards' son. for many years i've been playing the song by the fire. well and gladly. alone or with or for people. i like the poetic mysticism and the wistful, overly confident sadness in the music and lyrics. the stones are rarely this deep. we're listening to a recording from the prudential center in newark on december 15, 2012.
